Networking Reception Held for MBA Employers in Beijing
May 29, 2019. Beijing – The 2019 CEIBS MBA Employers Networking Event was held this afternoon in Beijing. Over 40 employers joined the networking event to strengthen their relationships with CEIBS. The attendees included representatives from Matrix Partners, Legend Star, Legend Capital, China Renaissance, Zhen Fund, Spring Capital, Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Carrefour, PepsiCo, P&G, CFLD, Siemens, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, Baidu, Tencent, Microsoft, In3act, XDF, SAFE, World Bank Group and more.
Associate Dean and Director of CEIBS MBA programme Professor Juan Fernandez shared with the attendees some key findings from the 2019 China Business Report. The annual survey, co-authored by Prof. Juan, explores the challenges faced by executives doing business in today’s China. This year’s respondents came from 683 domestic Chinese firms and 335 foreign firms.
The report identified the slow-down of China's economic growth as the biggest external challenge that the enterprises face. The rise in labour costs and increased competition were voted second and third, respectively. Notably, 2019 was the first time in the last five years that “increased competition” has not been reported as the number one external challenge.
In terms of internal challenges, the top three remained consistent with 2018’s survey results – namely, finding and retaining talent, innovation and marketing capabilities. Both Chinese enterprises and foreign firms surveyed believe that success in China is closely linked to creating high-quality products and services. The survey shows that product and service quality, as well as cost control capabilities, are key factors to success in the current economic environment, followed by branding and product innovation.
After the survey sharing session, Assistant Director of CEIBS Career Development Center Jennifer Zhao introduced the numerous ways employers can work with the school to engage with MBA talents.
The CEIBS Career Development Center (CDCD) helps employers to recruit full-time and internship positions, in addition to providing them access to online resumes. The Career Development Center invites company executives to partner with students as career mentors and engage with the school by organizing career workshops, campus presentation, company visits and/or career treks both in China and overseas. The Center also hosts large-scale events every year such as the Chinese Enterprise Forum and the MBA Recruitment Fair.
