China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), a joint-venture for management education, was co-founded by the Chinese government and European Union (EU) in 1994, with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the EFMD serving as its executive partners.

Our Company Specific Programmes are tailor-made learning solutions, developed in collaboration with our clients, to enact positive change in each organisation and bring tangible business results. Since its establishment in 1994, CEIBS has engaged its leading international faculty in partnering with some of the best and most innovative companies, both local and multinational. This unparalleled combination of in-depth China knowledge coupled with cutting-edge global expertise makes CEIBS the ideal partner to help your organisation succeed in the global economy.

"Company Specific Programmes are a highly effective tool for achieving both individual and organisational development."
One business solution does not fit all business needs. A Company Specific Programme (CSP) is a training solution which has been designed to meet the specific needs of a group of managers from the same company or group of companies. A CSP is the most appropriate approach when your organisation requires a training solution that can be:

  • Tailored to the training and development requirements of a group of managers
  • Customised to your business or industry
  • Linked to your business strategy
  • Integrated with your talent development or localisation strategies
  • Supportive of your company culture or "way of doing business"
  • Designed to incorporate different modes of delivery in addition to the classroom mode
  • Delivered at dates and times which are convenient for you.

CSPs are the fastest growing types of training solution offered by leading business schools worldwide – whether in the United States, Europe or Asia Pacific region. We, at CEIBS, believe that this trend will continue to grow in China over the next decade.

Choosing a CEIBS Company Specific Programme means selecting a learning experience tailored to your needs. In collaboration with our expert faculty and project management team, you can design a unique programme that will provide your managers and executives with the innovative learning, knowledge, and skills necessary to support your organisation's vision.

YOUR COMPANY. YOUR PROGRAMME.

A Company Specific Programme is a training solution which has been designed to meet the specific needs of a group of managers from your company. Each programme that we design is different. CEIBS will develop a programme that is tailor-made for your company and only your company. We will initiate a highly collaborative process to understand the priorities and challenges that your organisation faces and deliver a one-of-a-kind programme that maximises your return on investment.

A CEIBS Company Specific Programme will be:

  • Linked to your organisation’s business strategy and development aspirations
  • Customised to your unique business and industry environment
  • Tailored to your distinctive talent and leadership development needs
  • Supportive of your corporate culture, value and behavioural norms
  • Designed to incorporate different modes of delivery
  • Delivered at dates and times which are convenient for you.

In designing a Company Specific Programme with your organisation, CEIBS will effectively assimilate our own expertise and experience with the priorities and strategy of your organisation and the needs of the participants. The result will be an integrated programme that affects positive behavioural change and delivers real business results for your company.

Establishing Flexible Partnership
CEIBS Executive Education partners with you to apply the latest and best in academic research to your practical challenges. We deliver a variety of training solutions based on clients' specific needs, from three- to four-day programmes which suit a particular business discipline to one or several years of multi-module programmes which provide a systematic and effective solution to upgrade general management competencies.

CEIBS will work in close partnership with your organisation to develop a learning experience that aligns with your own specific needs and is tied to your company’s strategic direction. This will first begin with a careful process to develop a comprehensive understanding of your organisation’s needs, business strategy, and company culture. From there, we will work closely with you and the relevant faculty to develop the programme format and content in a way that aligns with your needs. In this way CEIBS will deliver a one-of-a-kind programme that is tailored to the unique context of your organisation for maximum impact.

How We Customise

Engage
The design process will be led by a team composed of a Programme Director and Programme Manager who will partner with your organisation and oversee the programme’s entire development, implementation and supervision. We begin by determining your business goals, learning objectives and desired outcomes.

Explore
CEIBS will conduct a thorough needs analysis in order to gain an intimate knowledge of your company's strategic priorities, company culture, and the specific needs and challenges that your company faces. With your guidance, we will gather information that will shape the overall course design effort and form the basis for planning company specific lectures, cases and projects.

Enable
The CEIBS Project Manager will present a draft proposal for the programme as a collaborative effort between the Programme Director, CEIBS faculty and designated representatives from your company. When the draft proposal is finalised, the CEIBS team will move ahead with developing specific content sessions including case studies, as well as company specific projects.

Execute
CEIBS manages all of the programme’s logistical issues with the utmost professionalism and expertise. We recommend programmes be held at one of our three locations (Shanghai, Beijing, or Shenzhen) as the campus environment is effective in taking managers away from their day-to-day operation and allowing them to test ideas in a risk-free setting.

Evaluate
CEIBS will review immediate feedback on content, pedagogy and faculty during or after each module and this will form the basis for programme refinement.
We can facilitate the implementation of a client action learning plan, which addresses real challenges in your organisation.

MATCHING PEOPLE GROWTH WITH BUSINESS EXPANSION

Partner: European multinational technology company for plant and equipment.

Participants: 30 participants, primarily divisional and functional heads of Asian division, as well as leaders from company’s European headquarters.

Objective: In an atmosphere of rapid expansion, the scale and speed of the company’s human resource growth has been unable to keep up with the speed of business growth. As a result, the company wished to develop a management training mechanism aimed at providing systematic management training to senior executives and high-potential managers.

Delivery: Three modules, totalling 16 days, delivered by five CEIBS faculty members.

Outcome: The programme blended traditional classroom learning with several action learning projects which helped participants develop and practice specific strategic skills and behaviours. Through this process, the company was able to extract potential solutions for some of its most critical challenges. Participants also completed a 360° leadership assessment survey in which they evaluated themselves in certain leadership dimensions combined with evaluations from their managers and co-workers. Finally, participants created and implemented their own individual development plans which were then reviewed by their internal mentors during and between programme modules.

HARNESSING THE OPPORTUNITY OF EMERGING MARKETS

Partner: China Division of a European-based multinational luxury automotive company with more than 25,000 employees worldwide.

Participants: 10 executive VP-level employees.

Objective: China has now become the client’s largest volume market worldwide and, as a result, the members of the China leadership team are increasingly expected to shoulder more responsibilities in support of the company’s global growth plan. The objectives of the strategy workshop were to: define a clearer vision and mission in China for long-term sustainable development; to develop a China Growth Strategy; to set-up parameters to ensure that the strategy could be frequently re-shaped to align with the company’s global strategy; and to be more responsive to local business opportunities and challenges.

Delivery: Two workshops of two days each, four months apart.

Outcome: A China-specific strategic framework was established during the workshop. The programme director provided participants with eight strategic analytical tools to help them constantly review the local-global strategic alignment and balance. A strategic development roadmap for the future was outlined with eight strategic initiatives and programmes identified for immediate action. The programme enabled strategic and critical thinking to move the firm from “Good to Great”. It developed a more balanced strategy between sales and distribution network expansion, incorporating a broader sense of local and global business context with greater strategic competence. Participants enhanced their ability to lead people across different business units, regions and cultures, while equipping the executives with the tools to lead the organisation through new business challenges and opportunities. As a culture builder, it set the organisational development framework and established a unified strategic voice.

PIONEERING FUTURE LEADERS

Partner: Asia-Pacific Division of a European-based global cosmetics company with more than 50,000 employees worldwide.

Participants: Newly-promoted functional directors, Asia-Pacific.

Objective: Build leadership capabilities in a fast-growing business environment.

Delivery: One-week single module residential programme; mix of assessment, classroom lectures, case studies and individual coaching.

Outcome: The programme gave participants a comprehensive leadership enhancement solution, from self-leadership assessments to the institutionalisation of organisational leadership development. Participants were assigned to individual coaches to enhance not only their professional and career development but also their personal development to prepare them to become future leaders within the organisation. After the programme’s completion, participants were assigned action learning projects. These included five sequential improvement evaluations that lasted eighteen months, measuring participants’ individual development and improvement trajectory, as well as the support and contribution from their direct manager. In the long run, the programme provided a comprehensive leadership development solution to not only participants, but also to stakeholders. This leadership development programme has been so successful that it has now entered its 9th cohort, with CEIBS’ guidance.
