Gordon Adler is a communications expert who earned a Doctorate of Business Administration in Corporate Strategy Communication with distinction at the University of South Australia. He has been a Guest Lecturer at the Graduate Institute of Geneva, IMD and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and was the director of the International School Bern for several years. He now shares the experience he gained as director of communications at IMD Lausanne and in other positions, through Adlerway, his own consulting company for strategic management and communications, and as a teacher at the Lorange Institute of Business Education.

Svein Andersen is a professor at the Norwegian School of Management and has held various academic positions over the last 25 years, including as a visiting professor at Berkeley and adjunct professor at the University of Oslo. He is also an adjunct professor at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. His teaching experience includes executive leadership and sports management. He holds two PhDs, one from the University of Oslo and one from Stanford University.

The former vice president of the Enterprise Architecture, American Express Technologies (AET), New York, has her main research interests in information technology management, IT strategies, and transformational technologies. A key is to implement and manage world class IT capabilities to ensure organizational success.

Special research interests are the planning, budgeting and deployment of cost effective, adaptive and transformational technologies to continually enable business strategies.

Weiru Chen


Prof. Weiru Chen is Associate Professor of Strategy at CEIBS, where he teaches Industry and Competitive Analysis, Business Model Innovation, and China Strategy to MBA, FMBA, EMBA, and Executive Education participants. He received his Ph.D. in strategic management at Purdue University, USA, and served as faculty in INSEAD’s strategy department before joining CEIBS.

Professor Chen’s research is centred on firms' technological search behaviours, strategic dynamics, and cross-border business model transfer. He published a book entitled Platform Strategy – Business Model in Revolution in 2013. This book provides a systematic framework to study platform business model based on a solid study of 40 Chinese firms and 20 global companies. He has developed cases like “Baidu vs. Google in China’s Internet Market” (2009 EFMD Best Case Award), “McDonald’s vs. KFC in China”, “Galanz – the Chinese firm’s internationalization”, “Nokia’s strategic change in the new mobile ecosystem”, and “Platform competition in eReading market”.

Dr. Daniel Chng (庄汉盟) is an Associate Professor of Management at CEIBS. Prior to joining CEIBS, he was an Assistant Professor of Management at SKK Graduate School of Business, Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea, and a Sloan Faculty Fellow at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He completed his Ph.D. in Management (2006) at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin, USA.

Dr. Chng teaches strategic management, organizational turnaround, global strategy, organizational theory and design, managerial decision making, and strategic consulting to MBA students as well as managers and top executives of multinational firms and government agencies.  Dr. Chng’s research interests focuses on organizational and managerial strategic behaviors during situations adversity. His research is an on-going attempt to advance our understanding of how organizations and their managers respond to the challenges of organizational failure or the threat of failure. His papers have won awards at the Academy of Management (AOM) and have been listed in the Top Ten Download list of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).

Edwin Datson currently runs a risk consultancy advising corporate clients on managing market risk. He is also an advisor to Arts Alliance, a European Venture Capital Fund specializing in digital media. Prior to this, he founded and was the portfolio manager of Wolf Rock Capital, a European equity long-short fund. Prior to Wolf Rock, he worked in public equity at Cycladic Capital. He spent three years in private equity as a Principal at Bain Capital Europe where he worked on leveraged transactions in several industries. Before Bain Capital, Edwin ran a group at Morgan Stanley responsible for generating and executing leveraged buyouts. Prior to that, he spent five years in strategy consulting with Monitor Company in Europe and the US.

He holds an MBA with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School and has a Double First MA from Oxford University.

He is also a partner at A4BS, a technology start-up based in Belgium. Previously, he was Vice President, Global Innovation and Development with Interbrew (subsequently InBev) and was with Coca-Cola for 23 years worldwide and among many positions was President for Coca-Cola Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. He is in the board of Globalpraxis in Barcelona, and previously of ProLogis, EskoArtwork and chairman of the International School of Brussels. He is a frequent guest speaker in a number of conferences worldwide and lectures in Innovation Management at business schools.

joined L’Oreal to head marketing and sales learning capabilities across the Group in 2001. From 2004 to 2008, he was the Director of Learning and Development for L’Oreal Asia. In December 2008 he left L’Oreal to start up as co-founder «Saint-Pierre, Brabant, Li & Associés», a Shanghai based firm specialized in HR consulting for luxury and creative brands. Since October 2009, he has become Visiting Professor of Luxury Brand Management at China European International Business School (CEIBS) and a frequent lecturer of Luxury Brand Management in companies, at conferences and in business schools.

Charles de Brabant is a graduate of McGill University, Oxford University (Balliol College) and Stanford University (MBA). He first worked for the UN in Africa and then joined CM International, a Paris based management consultancy firm, where he became managing partner.

Dr Yuan Ding is Vice President and Dean, Cathay Capital Chair Professor in Accounting at CEIBS. Prior to joining CEIBS, he was a tenured faculty member of HEC School of Management, Paris, France. He is member of European Accounting Association, French Accounting Association and American Accounting Association. Dr Ding received his PhD in Accounting from the Institute of Enterprises Administration at the University Montesquieu Bordeaux IV, France. He also holds a Master's in Enterprises Administration from the University of Poitiers, France.
In 2011, Prof Ding received the first annual CEIBS Research Excellence Award. In 2014, he was ranked 13th among the list of the world’s 27 most cited researchers based in mainland China in the category of Business Management and Accounting, according to Elsevier. Dr Ding has been giving lectures in financial accounting, financial statement analysis, international accounting and corporate governance at the level of Master’s of Science in Management, MBA, EMBA and PhD in Europe and in China. He has also consulted with, designed and delivered in-company special and open executive education programmes in China and in Europe. At CEIBS, he co-founded the first CFO open programme in China in 2005 and has been involved in many top executive programs. He received the CEIBS Teaching Excellence Award in 2005, 2007, and 2013 and was elected by EMBA graduates as one of the most admired CEIBS professors. 
In May 2011, Prof Ding launched the “Ding Yuan Index Neutral Fund” in A share market, becoming the first accounting and finance professor in mainland China to run a hedge fund. In 2013, his fund was named the Best Hedge Fund in China in the category of stable investment return. He has also served and continues to serve on the Boards of Directors of several listed firms and financial institutions in mainland China, Hong Kong, Europe and North America.

Peter Duchessi has provided consulting and/or management education services to a number of companies, including Jet Aviation, Siemens, and Fresennius Kabi.
His areas of expertise and active research include improving business performance via emerging technologies, redesigned business processes, and better management practices.

Currently, he is an active consultant to Jet Aviation and Reflexis Systems, Inc. and serves on the advisory boards of two non-profit organizations.

He earned a Ph.D. in Administrative and Engineering Systems, at the Union College, Schenectady, NY.

Peer Ederer


Prof Dr Ederer is a scientific entrepreneur and an entrepreneurial scientist. As a scientist in strategic management, he researches, publishes and teaches on the links between innovation, human capital and economic growth. As entrepreneur in his company Africa Enablers, his commercial focus is on creating sustainable and cost effective energy solutions for the African continent.

In science, Prof Ederer has researched extensively on strategic choices arising from innovation, human capital formation and economic growth. He has demonstrated these links with business case studies and empirical analyses for individuals, business and regions on all continents. At Innovation & Growth Academy and Zeppelin University he is director of the HUGIN Center, and has conducted research projects and executive teaching assignments on innovation and growth since 1998. From 2012 to 2015 he was project director of the EU-funded LLLight’in’Europe research project, leading a consortium of eight globally leading research universities on Lifelong Learning, Innovation, Growth and Human Capital Tracks. (more at lllightineurope.com) This project follows four widely disseminated policy briefs on human capital and university systems for the Brussels-based think tank Lisbon Council, while he was director for its Human Capital Centre there. Until 2013 he held the post of scientific director for EFAS at Dutch Wageningen University. His analyses are frequently consulted by business leaders and senior policy makers at all levels of government.

Prof Ederer studied business administration at Sophia University in Tokyo and at Harvard Business School in Boston. He completed his PhD at the University of Witten Herdecke in Germany. He began his career as financial trader at Deutsche Bank, followed by four years at McKinsey & Company.

Dr. MarkEsposito is a Professor of Business and Economics, teaching at Harvard University's Division of Continuing Education and Grenoble School of Management. He serves as Institutes Council Co-Leader, at the Microeconomics of Competitiveness program (MOC) at the Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness, at Harvard Business School. He is also a Senior Associate of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and member of the teaching faculty of the EMBA at the Judge Business School.

He is the Founding Director of the Lab-Center for Competitiveness, which is a think-tank that produces research on cluster and cluster policy.

Mark consults in the area of corporate sustainability, complexity and competitiveness worldwide and is also an active with the Institutions.He has advised the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, in the analysis of the EU systemic crisis and works as cross theme contributors for the World Economic Forum reports on Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship and Collaborative Innovation.

Individual assignments typically include one-to-one coaching, leadership development and team building. He has participated in leadership development initiatives for Generali, Swiss Life, Thyssen Krupp, Swarovski, Tetra Pak, Mahindra and Grundfos. He works at executive and senior management level. Margaret has spent the last 25 years building coalitions of leadership companies around the sustainable development agenda. She was the Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) - an organization she helped launch 20 years ago. Prior to that, she was with the International Chamber of Commerce / World Industry Council for the Environment in Paris, France.
A Swiss, Irish and American national, she is based in Geneva, Switzerland, where she combines teaching with consulting on business and sustainability. In addition to her role with the Lorange Institute, she is a Professor at the Business School Lausanne, a lecturer at the University of Geneva and Visiting Faculty member of the DeTao Masters Institute in Shanghai, China. She teaches at the undergraduate, Master’s and MBA levels.
Margaret is currently a member of the Sustainability / Corporate Citizenship Advisory Boards of Abbott (USA) and held similar roles with Caterpillar (USA), Areva (France), AccountAbility (UK) and FSG (US & CH).
She has a M.Sc from Tufts University (Boston) and a Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law (Boston). She has also completed Executive Education Programs at both Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard Business School.

He holds an MSc in Economics and Social Sciences from the University Notre-Dame de la Paix in Namur, Belgium (now part of the Louvain Management School), complemented by post-graduate studies in Business Administration at the University of Warwick. He is a certified Coach from CMOE (Center for Management and Organisation Effectiveness, USA) and a certified Transition Manager from Transition & Change, France, following the Palto Alto approach to address the systemic nature of human organisations. He is a Senior Associate with MCE-AMA (Management Centre Europe – American Management Association), an Advisory Board Member of Soshigames (social games themed around social causes) and owner of the Swiss license for national and international staffing activities.
Since 2008, Alain established O plc (www.oplc.ch), a consultancy offering services in performance, leadership, culture change, and human resources management in general, concentrating on company intercultural issues. Prior to his consulting activity, Alain built an extensive global corporate experience both strategic and operational, mainly in the field of human resources but also in general, project and quality management. Martin Hellmich is a certified EFFAS financial analyst (CEFA). He has worked for several financial institutes, including Barclays Capital in Frankfurt and Cantor Fitzgerald Europe in London. He was recently appointed Head of Fixed Income at MainFirst Bank AG in Frankfurt. For ten years he has lectured on quantitative methods at the Frankfurt School of Management and Finance. He wrote his dissertation on equations in linear recurrent sequences and received his PhD in 1999.

Professor Hwang Yuhchang is Professor of Accounting at CEIBS. Previously he was Associate Professor of Accounting at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Professor Hwang received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987. Prior to joining Arizona State University, he taught at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh.

Professor Hwang’s teaching and research interests include managerial accounting, incentive contracting design, performance measurement and healthcare cost and quality management. At the W. P. Carey School of Business, Professor Hwang taught exclusively at the MBA levels and various Master/PhD programmes including Executive MBA. He received the outstanding graduate teaching award from the School of Accountancy & Information Management in 1998. And he was awarded the CEIBS 2015 Teaching Excellence Awards. Professor Hwang was elected as Secretary/Treasurer of the Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association (2007-2009). He is currently on the editorial board of several leading accounting journals including The Accounting Review and has published extensively in academic journals.

Mike Johnson, chairman and founder of the FutureWork Forum, is a leading commentator, consultant and writer on the Future of Work, Talent Management, Corporate Communications and How to Work as an Independent. He is the author of 12 books on business and management issues and a regular presenter on conferences around the globe. He has written several series of world-of-work studies for both The Economist and the Financial Times, as well as over 100 global and Europe-wide studies for international corporations and institutions. He founded Johnson & Associates in 1982 in Brussels and has developed a long-standing reputation as a researcher and reporter on a wide range of organizational issues.
Recent books include Winning the People Wars and Talent Magnet, both for the Financial Times and The New Rules of Engagement and The Independent Consultant’s Survival Guide for the CIPD. Prof. Dr. Kilian has been consulting medium-sized companies with regard to brand strategy for more then 10 years now. His current research mainly focuses on organizational justice, cross-cultural psychology, creativity, leadership, proactivity, and person-environment fit. She published several books (published in US, Korea, Italy) two encyclopedias and articles in leading international journals, such as International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Information & Management, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Technology Analysis and Strategic Management, The International Journal on Media Management, International Journal of Mobile Marketing, Revue Francais du Marketing, and a variety of other publications.

Her paper "Digital Business Strategy and Value Creation: framing the dynamc cycle of he control points" MISQuarterly (2013), 37(2) was selected among the finalist Best European Research Paper in 2014. For her research activity and publications in the mobile marketing field, she won the 2009 Mobile Marketing Association Global Award Academic of the Year. Lydia J. Price is Professor of Marketing at CEIBS. Professor Price holds a PhD in Marketing from Columbia University, an MS in Marketing Research from University of Cincinnati, and a BS in Marketing from Miami University. Her current teaching and research interests lie in the area of cultivating sustainable business practices, and greening markets. Prior to joining CEIBS, Professor Price was on the faculties of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and INSEAD, France. She also has been a visiting professor at New York University, Beijing University, and Catholic University of Lisbon, Portugal.  

From 2006-2012 she was Associate Dean and Director of the CEIBS MBA Programme. Under her leadership the programme deepened its international focus and stature as well as its China expertise, rising steadily in major business school rankings as a consequence. In 2009 she implemented a major curriculum change that strengthened the programme’s commitment to Responsible Leadership and Sustainability, including an innovative mandatory course in which students complete sustainability field projects in the China context. Several of these student projects have earned global awards and accolades from the corporate and academic communities.
